Below: The Palmer Lake Star on Sundance Mountain shines above the Rock House Restaurant. Four-year-old Michael Stromer won the drawing for the honor of flipping the switch to light the star. Michael’s father, a member of the Army National Guard who was called back to duty last year, was present for his son’s lighting of the star.

Below: 475 people attended this year’s chili dinner Nov. 29. About $2,000 was raised to pay for maintenance of the star. Palmer Lake Volunteer Fire Department Chief Greg Lokken announced his retirement at the dinner and received a plaque honoring his five years as chief. The fire department, responsible for maintaining the star, thanked the community for their support.
